Epilogue: "No"

AN: There's a perfectly good reason behind this chapter, trust me.

'What do I tell him?' your thoughts were jumbling inside your head. 'I-I want to, but after realizing some things I can't do it.' you were crying because you didn't want to hurt his feelings, but you had to find a way to break it to him in a way he'll understand.

"I'm sorry..." you sniffled. "I-I would love to....but there's a couple reasons why I'm choosing not to. Please hear me out, I don't want to hurt you."

"Why? Please tell me...." he was instantly upset by hearing 'choosing not to'.

"Well, one reason I can't.....I'm such a person pleaser. If I marry you, I'll be causing Belarus to have hurt feelings because she loves you so much. I don't want her to try to hurt me either for it...." you explained. "And another thing, it'll automatically make me an Ally. I already said this, but I'd like to stay a neutral country for the time being. It's my choice as a country I hope you can understand this."

"I can understand. You were thinking about not only yourself as a person but about yourself as a country. You're very smart, even though you've only known you were a country for a while now. But it makes sense why you made your decision," you had that feeling of losing him in your chest again. The feeling was mutual, and you both were deeply hurt by your words.

"Please, I've been thinking a lot. And this probably made whatever link there was between us shatter...but how about we start on a new page and stay friends?" you suggested, obvious pain in your voice. "I want you to have a decision too, not just me. It's only fair."

"So...start over?" he asked, holding himself back from crying.

"Yes, if it is what you want. I understand if you don't want to see me anymore after this. I can leave when we're done." you sighed.

"No, please don't leave. Y-you're a great friend," he blinked and managed a smile.

"Thank you for understanding, if you  ever need help, or just someone to talk to, I'll be here for you no matter what," you smiled and hugged him. "That's what friends are for."

"And thank you for telling me the truth and staying friends with me. I'd hate to go back to being alone again," he hugged back, now happy that at least he has someone that will be there for him.

"Well, what do you say we go back? We have a lot of explaining to do."

"Da..."
